The most common percentage question is "What is X% of Y?" The answer uses the formula: Result = (X / 100) × Y. For example, "What is 15% of 80?" gives (15 / 100) × 80 = 12. This calculation appears in discounts, tips, tax calculations, grade weighting, and countless everyday situations.
This calculator has two modes. Mode A finds X% of Y (the result). Mode B answers the reverse: "X is what percent of Y?" using the formula (X / Y) × 100. Both are the most-searched percentage questions online.
A common trick: 15% of 80 = 10% of 80 + 5% of 80 = 8 + 4 = 12. Mental math shortcuts make everyday percentage work faster without a calculator.
Result = (X / 100) × Y
Enter a percentage (X) and a number (Y) to find X% of Y.
