A discount calculator finds the final price after applying a percentage reduction. The formula is: Final Price = Original Price × (1 − Discount% / 100). The discount amount is: Savings = Original × (Discount% / 100).
You can also use this calculator in reverse: given the original and final prices, find what percentage discount was applied. Formula: Discount% = ((Original − Final) / Original) × 100.
Example: A $120 jacket with a 25% discount. Savings = $120 × 0.25 = $30. Final price = $120 − $30 = $90. Or directly: $120 × 0.75 = $90.
Final Price = Original × (1 − Discount%/100) | Discount% = ((Original − Final) / Original) × 100
