The gold price calculator converts any weight of gold into its current market value using the live spot price. Enter the spot price per troy ounce (easily found on financial sites like Kitco or Bloomberg), select your weight unit, enter your quantity, and the calculator instantly returns the gross metal value. This is the melt value — the intrinsic worth of the gold content — before dealer premiums, fabrication costs, or buy/sell spreads.
Gold is traditionally weighed and priced in troy ounces (ozt), where 1 troy ounce = 31.1035 grams, slightly heavier than a standard avoirdupois ounce (28.35 g). When dealers quote "gold at $2,650 per ounce," they mean per troy ounce. Jewellery is often quoted per gram; bullion bars per kilogram or per troy ounce. Our calculator handles all common units so you can compare across formats.
For accurate real-world estimates, also consider purity: 24-karat gold is 99.9% pure, 22-karat is 91.7%, 18-karat is 75%, and so on. If you are calculating the value of jewellery or coins rather than .9999 fine bullion, apply the appropriate purity factor. Our Gold Karat Calculator handles purity calculations separately.
Gold Value = Spot Price ($/ozt) × Weight (ozt)
