Rectangle Area Calculator

The area of a rectangle is found by multiplying its length by its width: A = l × w. This formula works for any rectangle — a square is a special rectangle where l = w. The result is in square units (cm², m², in², ft², etc.).

The perimeter is the total distance around the rectangle: P = 2(l + w). The diagonal — the straight line from one corner to the opposite corner — is found using the Pythagorean theorem: d = √(l² + w²). This calculator computes all three from just two inputs.

Formula

A = l × w

A
area of the rectangle (square units)
l
length of the rectangle
w
width of the rectangle
